Graduate Student Report

In 2022, the GenEQ Graduate Issues Subcommittee was commissioned by The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to report on equity issues and graduate student wellbeing. They referenced nine qualitative sources (i.e., student letters, reports, interview data) and eight quantitative sources (i.e., student surveys). The report highlights inequities that graduate students from marginalized groups face (e.g., women, racialized, etc.) in regard to social belonging and connection, campus environment and program structure, financial strain, academic barriers, and health care challenges. A number of specific recommendations for addressing these issues for marginalized graduate students were identified.
