Gender Equity at the University of Guelph

Excellence. Equity. Diversity. They’re fundamental to supporting a strong University poised to improve life. GenEQ, an initiative to advance gender equity at the University of Guelph, will help us:

  • understand the barriers to equity for women, trans, and gender diverse* individuals on campus

  • support gender equity in leadership roles across the University

  • advance the status of all women, trans, and gender diverse individuals on our campuses and beyond

This initiative needs insight and support from all University community members. Together, we can create real and lasting change to improve life for everyone at the University of Guelph.

We are all responsible for improving gender equity.

The GenEQ series aims to create a collaborative space where participants can share experiences, discuss challenges related to inequity and belonging, develop practical strategies, and build meaningful professional connections and networks of support. The series is driven by a dual focus: (1) supporting women and gender-diverse participants in developing skills and strategies that can be directly applied to their work and career development, and (2) fostering ongoing engagement with gender equity and broader IEDI goals by supporting participants in contributing to more inclusive workplace cultures, practices, and institutional structures within their departments and units.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.

We look forward to welcoming you to an interactive session focused on connection, dialogue, and advancing gender equity.

Being a University that values inclusivity means acknowledging the importance of diversity among us.

It means understanding that some individuals and groups in our community face barriers to education, employment, and full participation in our society. It means addressing systemic challenges affecting our institution so we can reach our full potential as a leader in higher education.

Support

This multi-phase initiative is supported by all levels of senior leadership. It is a priority under the portfolio of our President & Vice-Chancellor.

The GenEQ: Advancing Gender Equity at the University of Guelph Advisory Committee is responsible for recommending programs, practices, and policy changes at the University of Guelph aimed at promoting, facilitating and supporting gender equity and inclusivity within the university for women and trans and gender diverse individuals.
