Dr. Son Hing investigates the factors that lead to discrimination, such as sexism, racism, classism, and other forms of bias. She also investigates people’s understandings of the inequalities that exist in our society and the degree to which they derive from meritocratic practices versus discrimination, bias, and the processes of cumulative advantage and disadvantage. She also explores how the experience of discrimination and subtle forms of mistreatment affect workers’ job attitudes and well-being.
